Section 1

Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

Somehow the courts have repeatedly ruled that compelling a man to work to support people he doesn't wish to support is neither slavery nor involuntary servitude. This doesn't make sense to me, seeing as he has no say in the matter, except to have all his assets stolen from him, and eventually go to jail.

This seems worse than income tax. At least the tax man only steals a portion of the fruits of your labor-- he doesn't force you to work in the first place.

We could also discuss whether or not child support and alimony are just in a moral context.

After the feminist movements, women have at least the same rights as men. In many states they can abort a baby, and the fathers has no say in the matter. Furthermore they can choose to divorce men. So if men have no say in whether or not their children will be carried to term, why do they have a moral duty to pay child support? And if women can terminate a marriage, why are men expected to support them afterwards?
